Slow hockey day, thought I'd "earn" my gold bar tonight. Whenever there's a burning Crosby "e-effigy" here, a lot of Crosby fans cry jealousy on the anti-Crosby's, such as myself. I've always wondered why? What's there to be jealous about?
That I don't have his skills? Okay...he's gifted, way out of my control. Personally, I wasn't even a skater, and I'm sure lots of hockey fans can't skate at all. Also, I don't think I would've made it into the NHL myself anyways. My youth was a little....smokey...and hazy...lol
So...Crosby fans...what are we supposed to be jealous about?

That's great, guys, but I'm not arguing against his talent and skills. I'm asking what am I supposed to be jealous of? That he's a great player? That's it?

Anyway, I know I'm not one of the lot of Crosby fans who cry jealousy... but if I were one of them and I listed things you could be jealous of, how could I prove you're jealous? How could you prove you're not?
This all sounds silly to me.

Do I wish I had his skills and W2? Sure, but I can say that about 90% of the guys in the NHL.
Personally, I am only jealous of his age. Then again, I can say that about 50% of the NHL.
It is purely a generational thing. I refuse to accept anyone can walk in and replace Gretzky, much like the generation before me rejected Gretzky in favor of the greats of the 60's and 70's.
Can Crosby do it? Maybe. Will he do it? No idea, but having to hear about it every day is 1) unbelievably annoying and 2) taking away from the journey, both for the fan and the player. Looking at an 18 year old kid and constantly fast forwarding to his Hall of Fame induction is doing a disservice to HIM and failing to relish the now.
The kid's great, so just watch, marvel and enjoy...nothing more.
Erica, you need to stop this betting thing before people start calling you an avatar floozie. lol
With that said, Rangers vs Pens tomorrow. Feel lucky? If you want a piece of Hank and the offensively-challenged Blueshirts, it's on like Revlon.

I agree 100% with whatever Loblaw says about Crosby. That's the one thing that I am strongly in agreement with him about. Crosby's a great player, he is hella rich, that's why some people do get jealous.

Chris- Remember, Ovechkin is 2 years older than Crosby and Crosby still out-points him. That Ovechkin scores more goals is a weak argument. The awards speak for themselves- as a teenager no less.
Something that has been bothering me lately is this-
I HATE SIDNEY CROSBY because the media overhypes him and he gets too much camera time. Shouldn't you hate the media for that? Hell, not even really.
I compare it to Tiger Woods, people whine that there are other players in tournaments, show their rounds too. Well, people don't tune in to see Michael Campbell, they tune in to see Tiger Woods. So really, you can't blame Sidney or the media, they are catering to what people (myself included) want to see.

Crosby still doesn't get half the hype he deserves in my opinion.
He is on a 14 game point scoring streak
He's averaging just over 1.5 points a game
He's fun to watch (Unfortunately, I chose to point my viewing pleasure towards the Black Hawks game and was unable to watch Sidney this evening)
He's simply a great player.

i wouldnt say jealousy. i'm not jealous of him. i say the same thing Chris pointed out. it just annoys me that he takes all the hype to his head. thats what it seems like to me. i mean i still think he is young & not matured enough to be Captain. i don't think he realizes the significance of it & i don't think he can carry the load.that's like saying to a 7 year old, hey you know how to walk, why don't you start carring me too?? lol
i know there are people on here who will go the other way, but hey this is my opinion.& yes I'm aware of his point streak guys.

the kid scores 35 goals and everyone treats him like a god, Ovetchkin scores over 50 goals, and we look at him like he's lesser then Crosby.
I respect the kid, but i don't think he is worth all the hype he gets.
