Actually this is a very good question.

It has two parts...
(1) How did we get here ... that's why we're here.
(2) Why are we still here

And the answer depends upon who answers.

Some will tell you that some spiritual being in its infinite wisdom put us here. They have absolutely no scientific proof of that contention... no proof of any kind actually... just dogma.

Others will tell you that we're just the result of random chemical reactions when he planet was forming.

The current status of man seems to indicate random chance than the work of any kind of intelligence.

Man is doing his darndest to to remove himself from this planet. We're over-populating, over-developing, and over-polluting ourselves out of habitat. We're killing each other with cars, drugs, wars, and random acts of violence. Fortunately, man won't be around much longer. I'd guess less than another thousand years.

Some are considering colonizing other plants in the Solar System. I hope they fail. It would be too bad if we were able to destroy another planet in the manner we have destroyed Earth. Every place we go, we leave garbage behind. We're already polluting the Moon, Mars, Jupiter's moons, Venus (although the probes sent there are probably pretty much dissolved). We have tons of junk orbiting the Earth.... and we're sending up more all the time.

But, do you know what? Whether man's here or not... or even if the planet is here or not, it isn't going to mae any difference in the Universe. We are nothing more than microbes infesting pretty little piece of space dust orbiting a rather un-notable star about 3/4 the distance out one of the spiral arms or a rather un-notable spiral galaxy... one of billions of pieces of space dust in the Universe.

It really doesn't make any difference who's in power. It doesn't make any difference how you vote. It doesn't make any difference what religion you profess to follow. Even if somehow man does manage to survive his own inanity, if a few million years the Sun will wipe us out. There's also the those rogue asteroids one of which could destroy life on Earth... or perhaps the planet itself. Man is not destined to survive as a species.

Hello Cupid

I think the answer lies in the observation that it's about the only place where we could be. The universe is so jam packed full of really hostile environments that when life gets a chance to cling to a friendly, warm, ball of dirt - it tends to thrive and adapt and evolve to a condition where it is capable of asking such a wonderful question!

Now some forms of life somewhere probably roll around in liquid methane all day. They would ask the same thing about a lovely place like Titan, where lakes of the stuff are there for the rolling - and they would adapt and evolve and think it is just a dandy place to live - but that's how evolution works.

Our planet is so much more than a ball of dirt hanging in space, we also have greenhouse gasses, a lot of contaminated ocean water, trash, and other pollutants. If we didn't spin, the planet would be uninhabitable, and we're not just hanging, we were carefully placed in our orbit for maximum enjoyment of of all features of landscape as well as many celestial fascinations.

because the mall that's spinning and hanging in space is closed.

As good a place as any, I suppose.
What other options are there in this physical universe?
