so, some how some type of trojan virus disguised as a spyware sheild got down loaded on to my computer. i ran REAL spyware searching programs and it came up blank. then even after it somehow got downloaded on to my computer, it wants me to download it AGAIN.(here's the kicker) it says it detects a TROJAN VIRUS CAUSING POP-UP ADS AND COOKIES. Now i think its getting worse. i tried to go to an ordinary site when suddenly the same old pop up came up wanting me to download it.... 43 times in a row and in the back ground you could see all these spyware sheild programs pretending to run. it makes an erie noise when the thing about it dectecting a trojan virus pops up.(erawwwwwr)

also, its called IE Defender.

i try to remove it but nothing happens. SO HOW IN THE WORLD DO I GET IT OFF?!

This is not a problem at all. Here's what you need to do.
1st, don't waste your time with AVG, true sword, spybot, ad aware, CA, spyhunter, superantispyware, avast, panda, kaspersky, spyware blaster, bitdefender, spyware guard, windows defender or anything of the sort. Stay away from anything that is FREE when it comes to spyware and antivirus. There is a reason why they free. They are NOT good.
2nd, You need some of the best software out there. Norton Systemworks is very good. That's the only good software from Norton. I wouldn't recommend Norton Internet security, its not that great. Now the best software you should get is Webroot AntiVirus With AntiSpyware & Firewall, formally known as Webroot's Spysweeper with Anti-virus, this software is too good and gets better everyday. This is Elite software. It blocks over 455,000 definition threats, which contain multiple fringerprints with each(you can do the math). No other software can compete with that or come close for that matter. It catches everything: viruses, spyware, adware, malware, root kits, keyloggers, trojans, worms, and anything else. It also has active shields and a Firewall which learns from your useage. I've used them all and it is 2nd to none.
3rd, after you install and update the software, since its in your system you will have to turn off system restore and then go into safe mode and run the scan and eliminate the virus. then after removal, reboot and turn system restore back on.
4th, (Optional) Now if you for some reason don't go for Webroot's software. I recommend a Firewall from Zone Alarm, their free version is so good. Or you can buy their Pro version, but the free version will do more than the job.
5th, any probs during or after you do all this, send me an e-mail or IM. I guarenDAMNtee my answers and will help you in person from IM if needed.

Removing IE Defender is a difficult process if you don't know a lot about computers, but it can be done. IE Defender is a rogue anti-spyware application and has been installed in your computer without your permission. IE Defender displays constant pop-ups and system alerts to warn you about supposed threats. IE Defender will try to mislead you with its malicious tactics into downloading the full IE Defender version. Unlike other rogue anti-spyware programs in the Web, IE Defender hijacks your web browser and redirects you to IE Defender’s homepage. So if you are infected with IEDefender and do a search, IEDefender will use the search engine’s name within the message and state that you’re infected with spyware! My recommendation is that you get rid of IEDefender as soon as possible and avoid further damages.

If you have an anti-virus, I suggest you make sure it has the latest virus definitions and run it. If you don’t have one, many people here swear by AVG (it’s free).

I also suggest you download Ad-Aware SE and Spybot S&D (they’re free), install them, update them and run them. If any of the above don't seem to be able to get rid of everything it reports finding, try running it again, this time in Safe Mode. Safe Mode often prevents the malware from running and protecting itself.

Also, turn off System Restore to evict any copies of bad stuff that might be lurking there.

To get into Safe Mode:

1. Log out and reboot your machine.
2. When the machine starts the reboot sequence, press the F8 key repeatedly.
3. Select Safe Mode from the resulting menu.
4. The machine will continue booting, but the Windows desktop will look different. You won't be able to see the Internet, for instance. Log in as Administrator. Administrator often has no password.
5. When you're finished, log out and reboot back into normal mode.

Update and run them all regularly.

Good luck.

i just got this virus a couple days ago! i had a heck of time trying to find something to remove it. try SUPERAntiSpyware, it caught IE defender on my system and removed it for me and its free. i also tried the removal instructions from one of those forum websites but they were complicated and i didn't get the virus out. try superantispyware, it works and its really easy, you just wait for it to scan your system.

ad-ware works fine too. i used that too. ad-ware finds a lot of tracking cookies also that supersntispyware sometimes misses, but if IE defender is the only bothering you, superantispyware works really well.

ya this is called hijackware because it basically holds you hostage until you do exactly what they want. Try downloading spybot search and destroy and running it. Also try avg it might also find it. If you can't find it still, then you might try a system restore.
