This is a bit confusing.
There was a well known French sculptor called Albert Ernest Carrier-/Belleuse (1824 - 1887).Rodin was at one time his assistant.
See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albert-Ernest_Carrier-Belleuse
And there was also another French sculptor called Philippe Poitevin 1831-1907.
http://www.trocadero.com/acanthus/items/378363/item378363.html You'll note that the lived at approx. the same time. I am wondering if the piece that you are looking for is a joint work by them, and that is why both their names are written on the statue. Would you like to write again and give more details. What, for example, is the subject of the statue?
Another suggestion: could Carrier have sculpted a statue for the Poiteuin family? And this would account for this name set alongside his?

Hi! Your sculpture, if by Philippe Poitevin, was likely manufacutured by the Carrier Belleuse Foundry. Or... is it perhaps, a Poitevin horse sculpture..... by Carrier?
More information or a photo would be helpful in solving this mystery for you:) Hope this helps!
Read: Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse, French sculptor and designer. He was one of the most prolific and versatile sculptors of the 19th century, producing portrait busts, monuments and ideal works, as well as exploiting to the full the commercial opportunities offered by developing technology for the mass production of small-scale sculpture and decorative wares.
