I agree with the others that say not to listen to anyone else about mutalating. If you choose to have him circumcised or not either is ok. I have never heard a guy say he wished he was not circumcised. However I do remember children in school laughing at the illustration of the uncircumcised penis, aswell as a friend who dated a guy uncirc. I know this does not answer the original question but I just want you to know there are others that support you decision even when those who think they are right gang up on you. There was a question posted by someone asking a similar question a few days ago and they just tore her apart with their beliefs and accusations. I know they will and already have attacked this question aswell. They will check tumbs down for me. Anyhow...do it within the week if your gonna do it. Good Luck with you decision! Sorry to get of direction a little :)

I would say later, when he is old enough to decide for himself. Yes in some ways it is better to get it done as a newborn but at what cost? There are risks and it can't be undone, oh and they don't get anaesthetic, sometimes not even numbing cream. There is no problem with being left intact, and gives him the benefit of the choice. (According to a survey at jackingworld, over half of the circumcised guys said they wished they'd been allowed to choose themselves.)
I don't know what's with the story about the 2-year-old who had to get it done because his foreskin wouldn't retract, the average age of retraction is age 10 and in a 2 year old the foreskin is still meant to be fused to the glans.

If u havent done it yet, u may want to do it in the next 4-5 days. Generally its done in the hospital altho some cultures do it at 8 days (this is now more about tradition. In years past it was better for the baby to wait til after one week ok bc of blood clotting, but now most babies are given a vit K shot at birth to help with that.)
So I would do it now before he gets older. He wont remember it now but if u wait much longer he will. U can ask for some pain relief also. Just know it can cost more bc u did it out of hte hospital and past birth.

It is definitely your decision if you want to or not. I have not circumcized my son who is now just about 1 yr old.
HOWEVER, friends of mine ended up having to circumsize their son when he was 2 years old because the foreskin did not property retract. Just a word of caution, something to keep in mind. We still didn't circumsize ... but I understand why people do.

If you are going to have him circumsized, do it now. The smaller they are, the easier it is. If you are worried about pain (and most infants don't even seem too bothered by the procedure) just ask that he be given medication for that. Don't listen to these militant women who are trying to tell you you are "mutaliting" your baby. It's a perfectly normal procedure and has been for hundreds, possibly thousands of years. Do what you feel is right for your baby.

I had my son circumsized the day after he was born. That is what most hospitals do if you want your son circumsized. That way you don't have to come back to the hospital and they are there to monitor him and make sure everything is ok.

If you are sure you want him to be circumcised someday, it is better to do it when he is small. The babies don't have nerves developed down there yet, my son didn't even cry. He just didn't like being strapped down. But if you are just trying to decide to do it, research it on the net or something. I chose to do it, but many moms are not. It is a very personal choice that you will make for your child, and it will be a decision you make because you feel it is right for your son. What other people think, agreeing or not, really doesn't matter. He is your son, and it is your decision. (Both my nephews have told their mom they are glad they are circumcised also...they are 13 & 14)

I know where I live that if you don't do it before they are 3 months...I think then you have to wait until they are over 1 year old because they have to sedate them. I don't think I would feel comfortable doing this. I think it is better to do it asap...1 hour later they will not even remember what happened.

I think now because it's easier when they are small, I waited until my son was 2 mths and the surgeon said that he would have to be put him to sleep because at that age he was too active and he was moving too much but if we would of done it right after he was born it would of been done right then and there

If you are gonna do it...do it now! There is a lower chance of infection, less complications, and a faster healing time when they are little (as long as the penis is large enough for the doctor to accurate do it...my aunt had to wait two months with her preemie because he was too small!). It is less traumatic and easier for you to care for (and they won't remember!)
