Yes, I do know the capital of my state.
I am in California. We are also known as "The Golden State". Our capital is Sacramento. Sacramento is located in the Central Valley of our state. John Sutter and James Marshal are credited as having founded the city, during the gold rush era.
As for the "cool" factor... Well, considering the fact that our current governor is a "Film Star" and has increased tourism to our capial city, because of who he is and not because he's our governor... I guess he's increased the "cool factor" if nothing else.
