Interesting topic for Global Studies term paper?

Question

I need a global dilemna that has an NGO and IGO specifically focused on the problem. Any ideas that have abundant info and are not what everyone else is doing?

How about the global issue of landmines? There is information but not an overwhelming amount, and the fact that the US will not sign the international treaty because of the land mines in the DMZ between the two Koreas is the major factor. I think it would be interesting as there are still millions of landmines and it's preventing development in many "third-world" countries.
