I found that I get that when I spray it to heavily. So, now I spray and iron on the reverse side of the garment. If I get flakes or it gets that shine, no one can see it.

Here's a trick, spray your garments down with starch about an hour before ironing. Place them in a brown paper bag, and in the fridge. They will NOT flake no matter what.

Are you using steam? That would cause the starch to bunch up instead of being absorbed into the fabric and, when you run the iron over it, it becomes little flakes.

when you iron with starch...keep a damp cloth near it and gentle rub off the flakes with a couple of strokes. its real easy. no starch with show.
