Earthbounds usually don't care about the living. They don't want to communicate with us, they are happy in their own reality taht they create-Prayer can help them cross over. Anything else just annoys or scares them.

I MAY have seen a spirit once. He was someone I never knew, the deceased former friend of a woman acquaintance. When I saw him, he was in a hurry to leave her house via her balcony, and he disappeared into nothing, quietly. He was not at all interested in me. Spirits (if there are any) and living humans can't really intersect. Since we are on different levels of existence, no one can get hurt. I'm not so sure about animals, though. They may connect in other and more sensitive ways.

I think the term "agnostic" could be applied here as well as in R&S

agnostic: a person who holds the view that any ultimate reality (as God) is unknown and probably unknowable; broadly : one who is not committed to believing in either the existence or the nonexistence of God or a god (Merriam-Webster online)
