Calm Down...The chances that you have been bitten by a dangerous spider is extremely remote. It would have been helpful to know what the spider looked like and where you are located. In the States, there are only three spiders that are medically significant and only one that could be deadly. The worst is the Black and Brown Widow Spiders, but you would know them. The second is the Brown Recluse, not deadly, but can cause some severe reactions including necrosis and soft tissue damage that may take months to heal. The third are the Sac Spider, more specifically, the Yellow Sac Spider. Again this spider's venom is not deadly, but can cause reactions similar to Brown Recluse.
All Spiders (except for a very select few) are venomous and reactions to their venom will differ from person to person and species to species. That being said, most spider bites are harmless and will only cause a localized reaction, similar to a bee sting. None of the spiders listed above would I consider to be a "Big A#$" spider so I think you are safe.
My best guess is that it was either a Wolf Spider, whose bite can be quite painful but harmless, or an Orb Weaver, like the Common Garden Spider. They can be quite large and are very impressive looking, but again, harmless.
I would not worry too much!!!

You should have tried to catch the spider so you could take it to the ER to make sure it was not poisionious. Go to the ER if you think it is a bad spider such as a fiddle back or black widow. THey will give you a shot at the bite site and you should be fine.

They somewhat seem to be!!! prepare sturdy sanitation for administration. Vacuum and clean away all webs, being confident to eliminate any egg situations. flow and dirt in many situations in the back of fixtures, saved packing containers and residential equipment. eliminate the spiders' foodstuff supplies - alongside with flies, cockroaches and moths - and that they are going to be much less probably to return. verify and restore all monitors, and seal cracks. eliminate piles of timber, trash and debris from around the beginning place of your place. be confident to placed on protective clothing: long-sleeved shirts, long pants, gloves and boots. Hose off the outdoors of your place to wreck webs and egg situations. replace outdoors lighting fixtures with yellow or sodium-vapour lightbulbs, that are much less probably to entice bugs and then spiders. Shake out clothing that has been saved formerly putting it on. once you're desperate to apply a chemical administration against spiders, understand that those are in basic terms efficient if the chemical lands straight away on the spider. A flyswatter works as straight away. I did study someplace that spiders do not in basic terms like the scent of Conkers!!the tale is going in case you drill a hollow interior the conkers, then place them around the domicile,it repels the spider!(remember conkers are poisonous to animals) No concept if it rather is real,as I even have in no way tried it!! yet another tip, shop all potted flowers faraway from the domicile,as spiders will flow to them to get water!! THAT worked for me!!! have not had any so a procedures!! palms crossed !!!!!!!!

Go to the hospital quickly. But first try to find out what kind of spider it was that bite you. If you can't, go to the hospital anyway!

You should have tried to either catch it or kill it, after it bit you, so that you could take it with you to the hospital, and it could be ascertained whether or not it was venomous. Just go to the ER, and describe it as best as you can.
The fact, though, that you came to YAHOO!Answers--FIRST!--to seek our advice, before seriously contemplating rushing to the hospital, shows that you are truly a creature of your generation!

I would high-tail it to the hospital... and let them take a look at it...what did the spider look like? ...At least call the ER or the poison control center and ask what you should do.
