It's normal for a fetal heartrate to be much higher than what adults would consider normal. But if you're concerned, you really should ask your doctor about it. He/she will be able to give you a better idea.

i have never heard that this is normal at any time. but it is rare to know the heartrate at 6 weeks. ask your doctor what they think about this. i know that a baby starts out with a little faster heartrate.. around 200 at 6 weeks, by 9 weeks it slows to around 160. but 240 is a little high. hope everything is alright :) goodluck

What did you doctor say?? Did you ask them....when I was 6 wks, my baby's heartbeat was around 183bpm.

You may just have an active baby with a super strong heartbeat, usually the earlier you are, the heartbeat is really fast. I would totally ask my doctor is 240bpm is high...and tell him to be honest... you wanna know I don't blame you. Best wishes on your new blessing, I hope and pray that all is well and that you will have a bundle of joy in about 8 months!

maybe you heard the dr wrong? im sure if it was that high and he thought it was a problem he would have said something to you

I don't know. I've always heard of it being between 120 & 160 give or take. I've never heard of it being that high. U should've ask the Dr. They should've told u if there was a problem. Make sure u call tomorrow. Good luck!!!!

That's awfully high. I'd see a doctor. That's 4 times a second. Probably something dangerous.

did a doctor tell you this? did they say it was too high? maybe you should call tomorrow and ask if your concerned, but if the doctor didnt say anything it is probably normal. my doctor didnt even try to listen for a heartbeat until 12 weeks.

that does sound high--what did the doc say? as baby gets bigger the heart rate slows slightly--but normal is usually 120-160 during pregnancy. babies' heart rates are more than ours.
