That depends on your requirement. I think some organisations uses 'Mesh topology too. Mesh means 'Star+Ring+other topologies'.

Generally Star topology is the one we are using for education mostly.

School Network Topology

it will be most probably be an extended star network topology using a Bus topology (a mesh topology would connect EVERY node in the building to each other:VERY unlikely)as networks nowadays use Ethernet technology which uses CSMA (collision sense multiple access) which queues multiple connections that are hooked upto a hub or bridge but if Layer 3 switches or routers are used in each class (highly unlikely due to costs)this would limit
+segregate collision domains, giving each node (pc) its own personal connection. ur question is misleading because Extended Star+Bus are both correct, but if the question specifies what NETWORK topolgy is being used then Extended Star is most likely as it specifies the physical topology, but Bus being the topolgy that is actually "Used" in an extended star topolgy to avoid collisions it is hard to tell which one answers your question but if its a multiple choice it will be more than likely Star (or Extended Star, preferably) if that is an option..hybrid topology if its an option could also be correct because most places adopt different topologies depending on need+cost.

With the advent of cheap Routers (permitting 'star' to all PC's) all other methods are obsolete (because they are less secure).

Star connected PC's can not communicate directly with one another and each can be individually limited (protocols used / open ports etc) by the Router settings for that link (exactly what is required in a school system where the trainee script kiddies are exercising their hacking skills)

If the school has multiple Servers working together, they may be directly connected (most likely in 'Bus' topology) to reduce delays ..

all of them were designed for the various networking purpose. For education, i think u shoud choose mesh cause' information data which is use these type were not isolated by node rules and open for any node.
