December is when the holiday season starts. Is it fine to visit Philippines in December , will it be very crowded all over the places and any special festivals or things to do / see specifically only available in the month of December ? For shopping will traders hike up their prices or will there be a good bargain in December ? I always like to buy souveniers which are typically of the countries that i visit, any suggestions in Philippines, what to buy and the price range ?

Philippines is beautiful, and the weather is good, year-round. To us locals, it is rather cold in december. But it is really warmer than spring, when compared with 4-season countries.

It won't be so crowded, except in the malls. Souvenir prices would not be jacked up because they are not Christmas commodities. The best you could get would be miniature jeepneys, because these things only exist in the Philippines. I think they would not cost more than P500 each.

If you come in december, make sure you attend at least one of the dawn masses. And eat the local cakes sold by the church patio.

Yes, its fine to visit in December. You will find Manila a bit crowded anytime of the year compared to here in the US. In December, Catholic Filipinos attend 12 consecutive midnight church mass or services to welcome Jesus. Try to get into one of them. The churches are all decorated with star lanterns and light. They are very beautiful in the night. We also have night time snacks that are very delicious (before services). You can smell them being cooked as you approach the church. Also, we'll have all kinds of fireworks right up to the New Year. It's the best time to go because everybody is in a festive mood. And christmas has a special meaning to all Filipinos more than anything. Have fun!

Come to the Philippines anytime. Lots of possible souvenir items, including mother of pearl used as table napkin holders. And the intricately woven materials used for table runners and placemats. Prices do not vary with the season.

Good weather in December. Best time, in fact - - not at all humid.
