Because Europe has schools all over the place. Africa needs schools way more than other places.

Sidenote, Oprah is from Mississippi not Tennessee. I applaud her efforts on helping to maintain the educational standards for people of color, besides how do we know she didn't build one or donate some money for one on Europe and if she did not why can we not be happy and honor the fact that she is actually being a good Samaritan?

Former South African president Nelson Mandela asked Oprah to build a school for girls so that they would grow up to be good leaders for the country. South Africa (also called RSA) is very poor even though it has lots of natural resources--the blacks were treated horribly for most of its history. Now that they are the political as well as demographic majority, they need to have good leaders.
Most of the European countries are not poor, and have good school infrastructures and don't need Oprah's help. She also does a lot of work with schools in the Chicago area, so the school in RSA is not her only large project.

You go to school right? Or you did at some point correct?Well these kids in Africa are not getting a quality education because they are very poverty stricken. Tink about it, some places in Europe may be poverty stricken, but Africa is one of the biggest poverty stricken places in the world. Therefore Oprah wants to help them out more, because they aree very needy and are suffering worse than you.

Umm... you do know that most parts of Africa are more economically disadvantaged than most parts of Europe and therefore need it more. This shouldn't even be a question.

Why do you think she should've built one in Europe? It doesn't matter where it's built because kids are getting an education regardless. I agree with the other poster. If you want a school built in Europe, take your azz over there and build one.

She is starting in Africa and then moving on to India. Europeans aren't financially and educationally deprived. They don't need her help.
