because that happened to me when i was washing my car and i sprayed cold water on my brakes.

The brake pads actually drag very slightly as you drive on level ground. The purpose is to keep the rotors clean and the pads free of dirt. If you have stepped on your brakes before you washed your car the rotors are too hot to touch. When hot water touches the hotter rotors steam would come off for sure. Thats a great way to warp the rotors.

if you were driving the car and you starting washing it right away its no problem that is the rotors is not the brakes they get hot because the wheel is turning.

Anytime you hit your brakes, heat is going to build up. It's normal, just like when you take a pot off the stove and stick it into the sink, you get steam.

it means that the rotors were still hot, that's a good way to warp them
