We have a USB reader/writer for the smart card used in
our digital camera. When connected to the computer it
shows up as another drive. Normally I can just copy the
pictures from the "new" drive to wherever I want them on
the hard drive of the computer. But I have been getting a
message that tells me that the media cannot be written to
because it's write protected and to go and remove the
write protection. I have searched high and low to figure
out how to remove the write protection, but I haven't
found it yet and am getting a little frustrated. It must
be something really simple. I want to be able to write to
the disk if I want to use it for a slide show that I
would put together of pictures from my hard drive. How
can I remove the write protection? Thanks.

There's a little tiny slide switch on the side of the card that everybody hits accidentally when they plug it in.

well, this may be way to simple, but most cards have switches on them that enable or disable writing. Depending on the card (you did not mention it) it might have a slider on the side that looks like a rectangular switch. If it is USB, there is some switch with a lock closed and opened. flip to open and you are done!

Good Luck!
