I have always been amazed at how Stephen King could write at such a prolific rate and be so good. I see it today in James Patterson but his novels are just so-so. King has slowed down but his works continue. What one of his works has impacted you and why?

I like Stephen Kings books because I can see and feel what his characters are seeing and feeling. I started reading his works at 14, so I have been a fan for over 20yrs. I have more then one dog eared book in my collection.
The Girl who loved Tom Gordon......using your inner strength to last of your reserves.
Bag of Bones........love can conquer
The Talisman....Jacky travels to the "end" of the world for his mother Lily "Queen of the B's" and discovers a whole parallel world with twinners.
I obviously cant name just one book or character (unless its Jack Sawyer from the Talisman and the Black House) I admired his strength and courage.

PS Alot of his works incorparated similar themes and references, the clown from IT shows up breifly from time to time and parallel worlds

Bag of bones is by far my favorite novel. I'm not sure why but that book makes me want to travel to Maine. He describes everything so well and draws the reader into the story. I stayed up all night to finish it even though I had to be up at 6 for work the next day.

As an author of short horror fiction, I guess it'd be 'Misery' that caught my attention. In this piece, Mr. King gives a frighteningly plausible example of what many artists, regardless of trade, have gone through b/c of 'fan worship'. I suspect that, in order to create the characters he used as the protagonist and antagonist, Mr. King has probably seen similar situations during his own career. If this is the case for artists, I wonder (briefly) if this is a course I am willing to follow; and it occurs to me that I am unable to NOT write, as artists work from the soul...

Later Daze! =)
