We have to do a 700+ essay for Jane Eyre and right now I only have a thesis. ---

Jane Eyre is an example of the changing role of women in Victorian literature by serving as a model of the difficulties which a woman had to overcome to achieve any sense of independence as a woman.

Can anyone help me with finding a couple of examples and ideas I could use to support it! Thanks in advance.

Jane is poor and treatly poorly by the relations that were supposed to raise her as an equal to their children. She is sent to a horrible charity school Lowood and must become educated enough to work and support herself since a good marriage is highly unlikely with her social standing. She falls in love and realizes the one she loves is already married and must leave and make a new life for herself.

sorry. i cant give you specific page examples, i have an extremely old version that i really doubt you own. Some really great ideas to support your thesis are:

Jane grew up alone in an orphanage. The only people that supported her died early on and she had to live on her own by her own means. She managed to live through the disease that killed others, and she live to make it out of the orphanage by being strong.
Throughout the book she has to make it on her own. Ex: she got engaged and then managed to escape even though it was really difficult which led to her getting the money.
