Like mashed potatoes and soup for example.... any other ideas?

If he's accustomed to solids- you've given them to him before regularly- just give him whatever you're eating.

My son is 9 months and he eats whatever we're eating.

today it was chipotle chicken sandwiches and a pickle for lunch, with some veggies soup and toast for dinner. Among other things...lol.

Some good solids and easy are mashed canned garbanzo beans, rice cakes, ripe pears, ripe canned peaches, cubes cheese, sweet red peppers, brocoli, soft carrots, cinnamon bread, yogurt, cherrios, you can buy frozen veggies and canned fruit, if you are in a rush , but fresh is always better. Hope this helped.

My son loved avacado, sweet potatoes (yams), pasta and sauce, black beans, peas, etc.
