if you bench your body weight at least once then you are doing great for a 16 year old,the goal is to be able to do that for ten reps,sill good I know some adults that can't bench press 185

That depends where you play football. If you play in the bible belt or southern California that is average because those guys are workout warriors who live football.

But as far as your average HS football player goes that is pretty decent.


To the guy above - The NFL benches 225 lbs and the combine record is 49 consecutive reps by Vernon Davis.

a bit low for a lineman, when I was 16 avg lineman benched about 205 with the top group at around 240 But that sound about right for the avg football play at age of 16.

That's about the perfect weight based on your age and height because the normal weight ranges form 100 to 120 lbs.

thats pretty good, the nfl beches 180 at workouts and the combine, but thats just to see how many times they can bench it, probably a lot more than you, ( no offense, there adults in NFL who workout for a living.)

Ask your coach he will have the best idea. Are you d or o line? WR? He will already know all of that, sounds to me your doin a good job.

At your age...Shoot for bench pressing your own weight, and go from there......
