Probably not much you can do. If the bark is gone all the way around the tree will most likely die. If it is only part way it may live. Keep it clean and dry, that about all that you can do.
Rico has a point, not getting rid of the dog, but you do have to be carefull what the dog eats. If he gets into the habit of eating plants it could be bad for him. Many of the plants we keep indoors are at the least mildly poison.

Get some pruning paint or spray at the garden centre.
It's black and it will seal the blister on the tree. I use it and it really helped to keep my trees from dying or getting bugs.
You have a dog and I have a cat that does that ,so now I give him lettuce to chew on, they need their greens too!

If it isn't all the way around the tree, it should be okay. If it's more than 3/4 the way around, you could be in trouble. If it's all the way around, that tree is toast.
