This all depends on what you're looking to do. If you want to create software for your company to organize things such as employee files and stuff, use visual basic or c++ (VB being the easiest) You'll have to learn databases as well in order to do this, which if you take a course on this you'll learn anyways. Now if you want to design your own web site to advertise and inform, learn html, javascript, php, and mysql and probably a few other things that you'll learn about if that's the route you take. My suggestion is that there are so many programs already out there, it may be cheaper to just buy the programs that you want to do what you need(unless it's web development) unless of course you want to customize everything, in which case definatly go to school and learn! Knowledge is power! and the more you know the more you(and your company) will grow! goodluck!

Learning how to program will NOT help you organize a business. I'd suggest you go learn Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Accounting / Intuit Quickbooks instead.

Visual basic probably isn't a bad choice for a teach yourself language and its actually fairly powerful.
