We'll probably put it up on Dec. 8. We usually put it up a couple weeks before Christmas. I'd at least wait till the beginning of December to start decorating. My theory is, that if you have to dust the decorations, then they've been up too long!

You just got me thinking and it's geting late for me.. This year I volunteered to decorate my son's whole school. I love decorating especially the tree last year I bought so many gold and red ornaments and stuff that the tree was getting too heavy in the front. Go with your idea of putting up the tree on Thanksgiving it sounds like a nice tradition that your children will treasure. They look so pretty you want to have them up a long time. In the east it's getting cold so I thought of putting up the lights soon and not lighting them yet (it gets so cold that it hurts to be out there). Thanks for bringing up the Holidays. Have a great and enjoyable one, hope all your dreams come true!!!!!!!!!

If you're thinking that Thanksgiving day will be a bit lonely, then putting up the Christmas tree that day may be a good occupier for you. There's no "right" answer for this question, so do what feels good to you.

I grew up Christian so we put our tree and all decorations up at the beginning of advent (4 weeks before Christmas) and left them up until Epiphany (when the 3 kings came to visit the baby Jesus) it was convenient because both of those days are on Sundays...so it was a Sunday afternoon project
This year their decorations will be up between 12/2 and 1/6

Usually on Dec. 1 and take it down Jan. 2. Sometimes if my grand-daughter is here I put it up the day after Thanksgiving.

We put ours up about two weeks before christmas....If you are thinking about doing outside lights or something early, go for it....just don't turn them on until after thanksgiving b/c that is just weird seeing lights before...don't be like the stores!!!
