If the problem was with the food (it was some fat on the chicken that resulted in the POP) the microwave will not have any problems. I think this is likely. Just clean up!

If the problem was with a rotating plate, or otherwise in the microwave, get it checked out before using again. If you've already run it and it is running fine, it likely is fine.

You probably heated the food up too quickly. My wife seems to think that a microwave has only one temperature setting: high. Every time she cooks something, stuff pops and splatters all over the place, because she always uses the high setting.

In a microwave, something like fat will heat up faster (a microwave excites hydrogen atoms with radio waves and there are a lot of hydrogen atoms in fat). If it superheats, it will explode.

If you normally cook something for two minutes on high, try four minutes on the medium setting. Or even 6 minutes on a low setting. This will cook the food more evenly (you won't have one side hot and the other cold), it's harder to overcook things (the chicken won't turn into rubber), and you won't burn your tongue on hot spots. And, you will have less explosions in your microwave.
