Got this off a Poster for the Dixie chicks after their scandal, it suites me pretty well. I'm from America.
"I am not an American who confuses politics with patriotism. I am an American who loves our country because we are all guaranteed the freedom to disagree with Government decisions."

Fighting for your rights and what you believe in to make the country you love and belong to a better place. Being a sheep and blindly following the words of the leader of the country at a particular time is not patriotism.

Being patriotic means being proud of what your country is and the society you are apart of as a citizen.

I was raised in eighteen countries, and patriotism to me means protecting this environment for all my family, humans.
From whatever country.
Patriotism to me means saying no to war, and yes to peace for all. I am patriotic to Earth.

To me patriotism is not hating your presedent, wearing your colors, and just plain out loving your country and being proud of it and happy you live here lucky you like here(where you live)
