Labor usually lasts more than just a couple of hours, so chances are you will either be able to let your mom know you are in early labor before she turns in for the night, or you will still be in labor in the morning when she wakes up, and she will get to you before the baby finally comes.

Moms also have pretty good instincts about such things - you might well find that she will have insomnia that night! My mom did the night I was in labor!

And if the worst comes to the worst and she misses the big event, make sure you have a camera packed in your hospital bag and get your DH or birthing partner (or a spare member of the medical staff in the delivery room) to take lots of photos. I didn't want any photos of my delivery because I was shy about it, and I really regret it. If you use a digital camera then no-one apart from you, and those close family members or friends you choose to share your pictures with, ever has to see them.

All the best for your delivery!

Leave the phone ringing as a sign.. for instance if someone calls and lets it keep ringing.

or if you have internet you can set up some type of a remote warning..

this could be done many ways.. instant chat messengers are an example.. for instance leaving the computer on with instant chat and substituting the supplied message receive sound with something... or increase the volume to very high level on the computer speakers etc.. computer speakers are louder than the phone but still a means of communication over distance...

best method I can think of, wirelessly connect a conductive shock device to receive the signal of a portable phone by adding a little electronics attachment to it..

it may require a dedicated line.. unless she likes the idea as an alternative to hearing the phone and waking up.. on a regular basis..

so many ways.

tm.

wonder if this is patentable.. anyway..

the next alternative to vibrate - SHOCK.

tricorders on stun.

Have her stay at your house or if you live in the same household. I would come in there and say will loud MOM I am in labor we got to go now or get a fire alarm and use the test button that would wake her up..

I'm pretty sure you'll be screaming loud enough and she'll be able to hear you. Plus she's probably super ecstatic about the baby being born and she probably won't be sleeping that hard. If all else fail take an drastic measure necessary.

I am guessing that when it is close to your due date, your mom won't be sleeping much! She will be so excited that she will wake up at the drop of a hat! And the words "It's time" usually work well to wake someone up!!

Keep her close when the time is coming closer, also if you don't feel like that is enough have a few close friends or family on standby just in case. You don't want to be stranded somewhere when your water breaks!

women power kind of triple or more when they are in labor so grab her hand and squeez while screaming next to her

is there anyway that you can hook up a ear phone to her cell phone or regular phone. Call the phone company and see if they can get you a phone for the hard of hearing.

if you can't wake her up just leave a note by her side letting her know what's up and she'll just go to the hospital once she's ready to go
