Virus scan, spyware scan, defragment it, disk clean up from the local drive (C:) you could also try upgrading the memory or get a new graphic card. if all of these don't work then it must be hardware problem.

run a few checks,
install ccleaner first, click analyze, then run cleaner,
then try spybot to check for spyware
also defragment the harddrive
go to start > accessories > system tools, disk defragment
