actually, on some levels I can relate.
I am an "aspiring" artist and the junk I see on TV annoys me. The obsession I see common ppl have with doing nothing annoys me. We do see things differently, but the idea that our creativity gets blocked or clouded is always a concern.
I've heard the artist suffer because the open up too much and absorb all the problems and vices in society, I've heard scientists suffer because they cannot open up enough. Both ppl then to stay locked away in their thoughts and minds, searching for something.

"Common people"? Yikes. No wonder a lot of people think artists are snobs.
I'm an artist too...writer, photographer, sculptor, etc. The willfully ignorant and closed-minded get on my nerves...but "common" people? I don't think of myself as being any higher or better than they are.
Come back down to Earth, bring your nose back down, and try not to be so uptight about what other people do.

A very narcicistic statement,I tend to view chavs as vermin so I guess we all suffer from intellectual superiority from time to time,I am a musician and hate clueless people describing average muso's as the best they've ever seen, mind you im common as muck and proud of it,as for artists well I do appreciate some art as long as it isn't soem shitty Tracy Eminnnnemmem whoever she is and a crappy bed and untidy room as art form, any cretin can do that, but most people can't play the drums hehehehehehehehe

"i'm an artist" is your opening line, and you refer to others as "common people"? sounds like you need an ego check. a real artist sees the beauty in life, including in other people, no matter how different they are from you. i play piano, paint, throw pottery on a wheel, and draw in charcoal, but i don't look down on others who would rather watch a football game than do any of the above. COMMON PEOPLE, that really kills me. really.

"Common people"?
I strive to learn, I write poetry & short stories, I raise my kids, I draw, I scrapbook, I make little movies, and I design my friends webpages...so I guess you could consider me an "artist" too----however, I would never dream of referring to the rest of the population as "common" or below me. Why? Because that's called conceit. And I don't play that.

Yeah i know what you mean. Us artists see the world and people differently, but don't act better than anyone else and learn to coexist.
