can you please give me one reason why large organisms have developed from more cells rather than larger cells?

Cells cannot be too large because:
1. Diffusion isn't fast enough to supply the needs of a large cell.
2. DNA can't be copied fast enough to give all the instructions for making proteins for a cell that is too large.
3. The surface area to volume ratio is too low in cells that are too large - not enough surface area to let enough materials in and out.
