On 9/10/2001, Pakistan was on the CIA's list of "Nations known to support terrorism." On 9/12/2001, it was suddenly "our valued ally in the War on Terror. "

Something was very wrong with that. Of course, the alternative to supporting Musharaff is a pre-emptive first strike against Pakistan's nuclear capability, followed by an invasion that'd make Iraq look like Grenada.
