I am naturally smaller than her, but yet when I told her my weight, she soon after developed an eating disorder. I have one too, she doesn't know about it but this is an example of how she ALWAYS tries to be "better."

I know that bestfriends are about going through life together, NOT about trying to have a "better" life.

I have a another very close friend, she talks down about her just because she's my best friend.
She tries to say she's smarter than me, and that she has better grades. But it's not even true.. at all.. and it really bugs me.

She's a know it all and ALWAYS thinks she's right.
She shoots down every fun idea that I have, and mopes at lunch when my other friends sit with us. Sorry she doesn't have any other friends besides me..

But WHY must she always make everything into a competition?

because she has low self esteem and a lack of confidence.

i'd probably feel sorry for her, and then give her a self-help book.

She's jealous of you, needy and possessive. She might have parents that compare her to other kids at school or want her to be the best.

I have a cousin my age who's like that. The best way to deal with it is to talk to her, alone. Start the conversation by saying, "You're a great person but I've noticed that you like to compete with me." Tell her that you like her the way she is and she shouldn't try to be like anybody else but herself.

When you're sitting with your other friends at lunch, don't exclude her. Bring her into the conversation. If you're really nice to her she has no reason to not like you, some people are just self-conscious.

She could be jealous of you. She seems like a real downer! I would talk to her about it if I were you. It could lead to a fight, but if always wants to be better than you it might be a good thing. Your other friend also shouldn't talk about her, although she is competitive with you. And no, I won't rant about your eating disorder (other than this).
