With the Cardinals refusing the one-year option on So Taguchi and Scott Rolen looking for a trade, is this the beginning of the end of the Cardinals reign in the National League?

Making strides in the playoffs in 1996, 2000-02, 2004-06, puts them in an elite class of the Yankees and Braves over that period of time. So, yes, a dynasty!

no. everyone thought the cardinals would end up in like 5th place earlier in the season, but they ended up in 3rd and gave the Brewers and Cubs a run for their money during the middle part of August to the middle of September. Cardinals always find a way to make the playoffs. They might miss out the next 2-3 years, but that's it. They'll always be in the upper part of their division. LaRussa is a great manager, got Pujols and management will make enough trades and signings to get this team on top. Oh yeah, Taguchi sucks! no difference what so ever to the Cardinals success.

Though I do like watching the Cardinals, I don't know if I would call their 2006 World Series Championship the beginning of a dynasty. I would say they need to make some major decisions that may turn them in the right direction. This past baseball season for the Cards was really bad (I'm not being offensive, I'm being truthful). Tony LaRussa is a great manager and I feel confident he'll make some good decisions for his team. And there's always Pujols! He's a phenominal player and asset to the Cardinals and I really enjoy watching him play. As long as he's there, along with some other great players, the Cards are in good shape. I'll be interested to see the roster next season, though.

Its the soon-to-be end of the cardinal dynasty. After they won the WS everything was slowly coming down.To be the great team they were in past years they really need more better starting pitchers.Sure they got Carpenter..who is not improving...and they also need relieving pitchers to get another shot. Also bringing in another big bat would bolster the line-up even more. They do have Pujols who is going to get better after one of his worst seasons........We'll just have to wait and see if the Cardinals will go for ready talent or rebuild with youngsters....=)

What reign? You think one WS win in forever is dynasty? They didnt even have a good year when the won it in 06. They had 83 wins. No dynasty. Only luck
