I had it Monday and the tech wouldnt let my husband come in she wouldnt let me see the screen or tell me nothing! She said they would fax it to my doctor, I called the doctor and the nurse said he wouldnt be in until Wednesday today,, So I have been going crazy waiting, I called at 10 this morning and then they tell me my doctor wont be in until next Tuesday!! I have called 3 times asking if a different doctor can read it, they say someone will call you back I havent recieved a call, why am I being treated like this? Is it possible for me to ask for the copy and bring it to some other doctor to read it to me?

It is your body and your health, so yes I think that you should be able to request a copy. That is just plain silly. You shouldnt be treated that way, and if your DR's office is like that. maybe you should look for another reliable doctor. What if you were to have an emergency? They need to have Dr's around for that kinda stuff. Good luck sweetie. And Im sorry that they did you that way, it doesnt sound right!!

The reason the ultrasound tech wouldn't tell you anything is because of lawsuits. If they gave you info that turned out to be inaccurate, you could sue the doctor/hospital. I have never heard of them barring your husband from coming in though. That is very odd. I'm also not sure why another doctor in the practice can't go over your results with you, it is possible that since it isn't an emergency situation, they feel that waiting for your primary doctor is the best deal. The best thing to do if they don't get back to you is just wait it out until your doctor comes back...I know that kind of sucks but look at it this way: Obviously your baby is healthy and everything is just fine, or no one would be making you wait around.

Make sure you complain to your doctor about how that lab tech treated you. She may have been just following procedures, but she definately wasn't polite about it!

Threaten to switch doctors. When I had my first u/s at 8 weeks, they did the same thing to me. The nurse was nasty about it even, telling me that "I wouldn't get any pictures or anything". I found a different doctor and I am much happier. You do not have to be treated like that, I am sure there is more than one doctor in your area that will take your insurance and treat you like you deserve to be treated.

I would not worry about the u/s too much. I know it is hard but what I have learned is when it comes to pregnancy, no news is good news. And if it wasn't your doctor who did the u/s, he probably is not the one reading the results. He is probably just getting a report from a radiologist. You would have heard by now if something was wrong.

This is ridiculous..I'm very sorry you're going through this. Do you suspect there is something wrong with your results and no one is telling you??

I'd be really angry and I would demand an answer from someone. If the scan has been faxed to your doctor's surgery then ask for another doctor to view the scan and explain to you what is going on. There is NO good reason why you should be treated like this...this is YOUR body, YOUR baby and those are YOUR results. You are entitled to them.

If you feel there is concern with your health, your baby's health and you're not getting a satisfactory answer then go to a hospital or something and asked to be checked. Take your husband with you.....

Ask for a copy and demand someone speak with you---better still, stand in your doctor's surgery and stay there til you've been seen.

That is pretty poor treatment. When I went for my sonogram, the tech was super nice and encouraged me to look at the screen and was very involved. She also gave me pictures when I left. This may sound radical, but I would switch doctors if I were you. If you are receiving this type of treatment now, would you want the same thing to happen if you were farther along in your pregnancy and had a serious issue? I work at an animal hospital and we treat our patients better than that! You need not only a doctor that you can depend on, but his or her support staff needs to be just as helpful. If you are unhappy or uncomfortable with the treatment you are receiving, go elsewhere.

I'm sorry that they ruined such a special moment. I hope everything will be fine. BTW if the doctor was doing this to me I would demand answers. There is no reason for you to be treated like this. You have a right to know. But sometimes no news is good news Also I got freaked by my ultrasound tech but everything turned out OK. .

i would call your docs office back and say listen, if you can't get another doctor just go over the results with me then i will find a new doctor who can take care of my needs. If they insist you are overreacting just tell them, no you aren't and this is your pregnancy and you have the right to know everything that is happening with your unborn child and that you need to have peace of mind. Stress on yourself or unborn baby is not good.

You should be able to check anything you want. It's your records and your body. I would look into seeing if there is another doctor who could help you with this pregnancy, obviously this doctor has too much he's dealing with personally to take the time to get back to you. GL i'm sure everything is fine.

I answerd your q the other day, i cant believe you are still waiting,i would lodge a complaint if i was you and change doctor's.
As for requesting a copy, your entitled to by rights but getting a copy is another story.
Just phone tell them you are requesting your notes and wish to lodge a formal complaint, and see how that goes.
good luck, hope you get a copy but i very much doubt you will.
I know its hard but try not too worry as its not good for you or the baby.
xx

So, my OB office is nothing like this. I'm sorry, but I really think that none of us here can really answer your questions.

Every different office has different policies. I would honestly, go there, a demand some answers. Tell them, you have called, received no return calls, and would just like some simple answers on policies.

If you are unable to find out answers to your U/S based on the policies of that office, then if you aren't to far into your prego, maybe you should switch doc offices.

Otherwise...it still sucks...sorry.
