My counselor in college, suggested I major in business with a "concentrarion," or "option," in Accountatncy. My question is, Looking up carerrs, I found CFO, CHIEF FIANNCIAL OFFICER, I love the salary and i believe they start off as accountants and work their way there after years of experience. That's my goal. However, my research tells me that i should get a BS in finance, accounting, economics, or business administration. And that employers these days prefer a MASTERS in business administration, economics, finance, or risk management. And that to be an Accountant i should get a bachelors in accounting or business administration w concentration in accounting. WHAT SHOULD I DO? California State Univ. Long BEACH offers a B.A. in Business Administration with options in Accountancy, finance, human resources management , and international business. But California State Univ Northridge, offers B.S. aCCOUNTANCY, but its major is "impacted," its tougher to get in.Is either school better?

The more letters you can get behind your name, the better. BA is nothing special, it gets you in the door....sometimes. If you can add a MA with a specific area....all listed are good starts AND a CPA that helps a lot more. CFOs are not just accountants to the broader you can make your studies, the better chance of getting to the top. Realize that even after school you may still be taking courses at a night/weekend school......aka Univ of Phoenix for example....while you are working.
