I fractured my lower tibia just above the ankle, my doctor says that it heals fast cuz i'm young and it's not as bad. I was in a cast for a month and then got a walking boot, at first i had pain at the bottom of my foot (mostly in the heal) but i gradually put more and more weight on it and now i'm crutches free. I'm am wondering if i can take the next step without talking with my docor and walking without the boot, IS THAT SAFE? my next appointment is in 2 weeks ( IF I CAN WALK SHOULD I JUST SKIP THE APPOINTMENT?)

It is good for the healing bone for you to bear weight on it a little and to give it some stressors so it knows where to build up more bone.

It would be bad for the healing bone for you to take a fall and stress the bone so much it breaks again ... or if walking about without crutches is putting a lot of strain on the bone. Usually you can tell, though, because it'd hurt.

So walk about carefully.

Go see your doctor for that appointment.

If you really want the best advice, ring up the doctor's surgery and ask THEM - not us.

Quit smoking - better for bone healing.

i'm depressed, you do not believe quacks. understand that in case you do not persist with you're medical doctors innovations, the bone won't be completely healed and without the strolling boot, the bone will heal improperly or shorten itself and you will walk with an enduring limp.
