why do you think they get so impassioned and take things personally?

This forum is open to all sorts and of course you're going to get a handful of people that are just misery guts. Take their answers with a pinch of salt and focus on all the great, informative and often funny replies you get.

I think when you post questions in the Family and Relationships forum, you can almost expect to get answers that are impassioned and personal. There is probably little else, short of maybe religion, that can cause such pathos among people. That some answers are angry and resentful reflects the experiences those answerers have had with the circumstances that you describe in your question. That the answers seem "weird" to you is because you are missing the depth of the emotion that is coloring their answer to you. They are not angry and resentful at you, but rather at what your question reminds them of.

Just like you said they are already angry and resentful people, so they try to make others around them feel the same way. You know what they say. Misery loves company

Because it is almost impossible to understand to the tonality of the questions and responses when you can see someone's face. We're all just looking at words here that can have multiple meanings and can be taken in different ways.

They have their own problems and their own demons, and as soon as they see someone talking about something relevant to them, they let rip. This forum could be the only outlet some people have for their inner turmoil. Tragic, really.

They are unhappy and thus hv to be mean to others to give them a little bit of satisfaction. I experienced too many times until i hv to delete my Q off n ppl were starting to judge me and called me names.... "). Guess something in what i wrote offended them (or ???), or they were js plain sick.

could be because they have a personality disorder and they do not think in normal terms.
it is so much easier to put the blame on others than it is to be responsible for their own actions.
so, they figure why not lash out on someone in here who they don't have to be responsible to.

Yes, and it drives me NUTS! I get the most sarcastic answers sometimes from cranks and I wonder why they have to bother!

becuase they want 2 points to get to level two so they can give thumbs up and down and cuz they're mean and are trying to be funny.
