You need a good digital aerial which plugs into the freeview box, and the freeview box plugs into the TV.
If you have an old aerial, you might need to pay for a new one to be fitted, we are able to have ours mounted in the attic, and get all the channels freely available, though we have deleted some of them.

You want Freeview?

You DON'T need cable.
You DON'T need a Sky dish.
You DON'T hook it into your phone-line.

You buy a Freeview box (from about £20) and plug the aerial co-ax lead from your wall into it, then another aerial co-ax lead from the box into the TV. If you live in an area with decent signal strength, you won't even need to change your TV aerial (ours is 15 years old and we get Freeview just fine).

You now have anything up to 75 free TV and radio stations ('free' in the sense that you will still have to pay your BBC licence fee, of course...).

Are you saying that you want to purchase a freeview box? You dont need virgin media or sky to do that. You just need to buy a little box which plugs in to the back of your tv (through a scart connection or normal aerial connection). You may need to get a new aerial to pick up the signal.. these are often more expensive than the box itself.

We bought a fantatic little freeview box second hand on ebay.co.uk.... cost us a fiver and just plugs into our aerial socket and uses the normal external aerial. You dont need to touch the telephone line to take advantage.

If you wanna know more go to the freeview website... think its something like www.freeview.co.uk

Asda are doing really cute little freeview boxes for £19.99 at the moment... stick it on your xmas list to santa (i.e on the fridge so your wife sees...lol)

OOooooohhh.. you must get broadband t'internet.... I cant imagine using dialup now... and you dont have to go throught the phone line. Virgin Media do a deal ... £10 per month... they instal a line with a modem-type thing... no need to go through a phone line and personally I have found their service to be excellent (I know there will be a few who dissagree). They sometimes charge £25 instillatin but it is worth it and you may even be able to wrangle your way outta that.... we did thanks to my smart blokey!!

you dont need cable, dish or telephone line to be connected, you simply get a freeview box, and connect aerial etc into back, and the scart lead to tv....

1. GET A DIVORCE
2. GET YOUR OWN PHONE LINE
3. HOOK UP ANY DAMN THING YOU WANT BUT YOU'LL HAVE TO FIX YOUR OWN MEALS AND DO YOUR OWN LAUNDRY AND CLEAN YOUR OWN HOUSE.

WEIGH YOUR OPTIONS CAREFULLY, THE DIVORCE WILL PROBABLY COST MORE THAN THE HOOK UP.
