1 male betta, and how many tetra? 2-3cm tetra that is.

Which tetras are good for non fin-nipping?

If none are, can you suggest any other nice 'shoaling effect' fish to go well in a 28L (around 6-8 gallon) square tank with a betta?

Some of the best, non-fin nipping, tetras that I have ever had were the diamond tetras (2 inches), black/gold skirts (2-3 inches), lemon tetras (2 inches), and the serpaes (I've heard that they are fin nippers, but I never had a problem with mine. They are good fish, though; 2 inches). Tetras I'd avoid: neons & cardinals (not a hardy fish), rummynose (sensitive to water changes, and can be a fin nipper), and Buenos Aires (they CAN be good fish, but they had a little bit of a fin nipping problem and an aggression towards newer fish). You could probably fit about 3 of the 2 inch fish in your tank though, since you don't have that much more space.

I don't think there are tetras such as 2-3 centimeters. I think you mean 2-3 inches. Well, neon tetras and cardinal tetras would have the best effect on the color. There are other schooling fish such as barbs and danios.

I prefer that you get around 4-5 tetras in your tank. Most of the barbs species are fin-nipper except for cherry barbs and green barbs.

Also, I am not familiar with tetras that are only 2-3 centimeters.

it's about a 8 us gallon tank
You could easily fit 2 schools of 2 different fish in there
like
5 neon tetras
5 rasboras
They both don't get bigger then 3 cm

Hope that helps
Good luck

I would think the betta would eat the tetra. check with a pet store and be sure I know there are some fish that can be mixed with a betta just don't know which ones. I believe the amount depends on the size of the tank and size of the fish in inches

i'd say about 1 gallon per inch of fish if you want them to be really happy.
