Whatever happened to just not letting your kids go to the theater to see it? They're going to protest? Ok, just give the movie more exposure and make it more money. People are brain dead. And it just goes to show you that these Christian dingbats let religion get in the way of everything. What's the matter with accepting that people may or maynot believe in a god? Your children may end up not seeing the movie and turn out to be atheist when they get older. Religion to some is a lifestyle, to others it's a choice. Don't go protesting for things that aren't affecting you or your children. How is reading a book written by an atheist affect your religion? It's a book. Books are stories that create images in your head. The end!

I have heard the same thing about this movie. I saw the trailer in the movie last weekend and thought it was a good movie to see when it come out. But, a friend of mine send me a email about the author and his strong view of being atheist. Which pretty much blown me away about not seeing this movie. But it made me curious enough to think about buying trilogy and read it for myself.
Oh, you haven't gone far enough to see what is coming, the first book is only set things up of what to come. Wait until you get start on the second book and mostly in the third book. The second book where the conflict between good and evil, where Adam and Eve turn against God and wage war against him. And Satan was please with this current of event which he final got things going his way. Where it get worst, in the third book of the trilogy that Adam and Eve kill God with the help of Satan.
So, the bottom line he is trying to peel to the children that there is no God. That is why some parents are protesting this movies. Its may seem like another Harry Potter type movie (I also thought that too) but its way more than meet the eye!!

Here's what I've heard: The author is a devout atheist and really hates CS Loius. He wrote this trilogy as the atheists version of the Narnia books. In the end, two kids who represent Adam and Eve kill God. It is different that Harry Potter because of the authors intentions. He really wants to convince people that God is imaginary whereas Rowlings just wanted to entertain. I'm not going to boycott, but I can see why some religious people would.

The movie has been geared towards children and is based on the last book in the trilogy, where the two lead children in the book actually kill God.
The film is hoping that the children that watch the movie will run out and buy the books.
So I as a parent will not be taking my children to see this movie and for any Christian parents out there, I would urge you to do the same.

Parents will protest anything they think will warp their children's minds. I don't understand why the author's religion would have anything to do with the story. The author's personal life does not have to do anything with how well the movie and book does. Well, they are missing out on something good then, aren't they?

I'm not protesting it...but I'm not going to take them to see it either. They aren't going to read the book either until such a time we can discuss the agenda of the books...Might study them in a Jr. High or HS discussion group.
It is really sad that he has to use his talents strive to destroy anothers faith...especially the faith of a child. That is why there are parents...to protect children from those who do make it their goal to hurt them in such a way. I agree with the poster...the intent is the key.

it is because the overall story is about man killing god. it was written by someone who wanted an alternative to the chronicles of narnia, because cs lewis was an outspoken christian, and narnia is an interpretation of the bible. conservative views are going to see this as an attack on christianity, and therefore are going to protest it.
i hope this helps

Yes, there are. I won't give my opinion of it, but I've received an email plus my coworker asked if I'd gotten the email about it. She said she'd forward it to me if I hadn't. The email basically said what's on snopes.com.
