In exspencive colorful toys. Also something that has lights and that she will not swallow and choke on. STAY away from anything with magnets. Even frige magnets are dangerous. Last x-mas a child died because of magnets. Now if you are going to invest in a first x-mas toy it would be wise to get something that grows with her! Also remember she isnt going to remember this x-mas other than photos and videos. Dont buy more toys than you are willing to clean up. Also dont buy more than you have room for. Other than that clothing, shoes, and practical items are the best.

These are the biggest hit in the church nursery (crawlers to steady walkers)
Jump-a-roo
Baby Tap-a-Tune Piano
Learn & Groove Alphabet Drum (by leap frog)
Roll-a-Rounds: Swirlin' Surprise Gumballs (fisher price)
5-in-1 Adjustable Gym (Fisher price!)

Hi! Don't want to sound like a party-pooper but when my kids were little, or in other words when it was Christmas and they were still only so many months old, I only used to spend about £20-£30 on toys and put the rest into a bank account for them. I know, I know, I'm Mrs Practical but when they got a bit older, I could take out the money and put it towards something a little bigger whilst in the meantime they were getting a bit of interest on their money. Don't get me wrong, I don't spend a fortune on my kids at Christmas - I have four so it gets a bit expensive! - but I used to find that everybody bought toys for them at Christmas and at that age, they just don't need too much. As for what toys to buy - I would recommend a 'walker' that can be converted into a free-standing activity toy so that he can sit and play with it whilst he is unable to walk but once he starts moving, he can use it to help him along. Also, anything bright, colourful and noisy would be ideal! Hope this helps.

Anything you want! She really wont care what you get her, you can wrap toys she already has and she will have the time of her life unwrapping them. Just buy things she needs or simple toys that help her learn, I got my son a little plastic bowl and some plastic measuring cups. It teaches cause and effect, he still loves them! Roll and see blow up toy is great to encourage crawling and they are fun, activity tables are great to practice standing and balance, my son loves wooden blocks, his favorite toy is a spare keyboard for our computer, take it apart, wash and disinfect, cut the cord off and she will love the noise the keys make. When I type at the computer, he sits on the floor next to me and beats the crap out of the poor thing and laughs.

Something simple. At this age, they have way more fun opening the boxes anyway. Get her some stacking cups or baby instruments (tamborines, drums, etc) or some rubber duckies for the bath. I wouldn't spend more than 10-15 dollars on a gift for her at this point, particularly since she has so much stuff already.

My son was born in October 2006. For his first Christmas, we opened a savings account for him and threw him a party at a restaurant; around 80 guests. We're Chinese, so it's normal to have a party one month after the baby is born.

If this is not your baby, clothes is nice.

A beautiful doll that she can look at from afar & appreciate later on when she's a little older. Also, a pretty little red velvet lacy dress, ruffled socks or whitle leotards, black patent leather shoes, & a pretty hair bow would be so sweet. What a pretty picture that'd make for your photo album.

It depends if it's your baby, or someone else's. If it's your baby, I say diapers, lots and lots of diapers. A carseat is also a great idea.
If your getting a gift for someone else's baby, a "Baby's 1st Christmas" tree ornament is one idea. Another idea is something my Mom did for all of her kids- a "Christmas" toy like a wind-up music box, or a battery operated Santa. These types of things are appreciated every year when all of the decorations come out!

My child will be 5 months at x-mas.. My husband and I are not going to do anything fancy for his first christmas because he will not know any different.. My mom is going to open him up a savings account, so we will probably put some money in there and get him a toy.. Thats about it.. Good LUCK! ! !

A toy box
Educational toys
An exersaucer
Clothes

It all depends on if you are talking about your own or someone elses? You would probably buy your own a lot more.

Maybe some nice clothes or a door bouncer or some toys or a blow up ring (they sit in them and they have toys around the edge.)
