Our military gets harassed for putting themselves on the line...most people don't have the whatever you want to call it to fight for what's right. It's because of sacrifice that the Pilgrims came here, that we won the Revolution, and World War II. Parents used to sacrifice for their children, but now they discard them...what happened??

I'm not just talking about the military...women used to sacrifice themselves for their children, now they abort them!! People are just too selfish to care what the next generation thinks of them.

SOME people in society are very selfish. I think it is wiser to look for the helpers in our lives. there are supportive actions for soldiers, schools and businesses send goody bags, cards and parades are set up by towns for memorial and veterans day. People hang out yellow ribbons and have soldiers as pen pals. Pilgrims came here because they wanted to find another way of life, and they did some things that were not honorable, so that they made a sacrifice is debatable. Historically, not all soldiers are good, some do take advantage of their status and do wrong things. Some soldiers are brave and honorable, and most do sacrifice a part of their personal life, but so do their families. Many parents are good parents. SOME people have abortions, abuse kids and abandon them. But, MANY others are foster parents, big brothers and sisters, and adoptive parents. If you look for honor and self sacrifice, you will find it. If you cry about not having a full glass, you are overlooking the fact that you do have half a glass full. Many in this world have so much less than we do. It all starts with you. Do what you can, contribute positively to the world and leave the negativity behind. Be an honorable person, it is the most that you can do.

Lol, people are not angry at the military because of 'Sacrifice', but because they think the reasons for which they go to war are wrong. If anything people against war are for _less useless_ sacrifices of human lives.

And you know, sacrifice of human lives for no good reason is just plain dumb, and stupidity is never honorable. The later is true for greed and anger.

ETA: Haha, 'women used to sacrifice themselves'. You know that abortions were practiced way before it became legal, and that it was quite a thriving black market, right?

Furthermore, even if I do think that abortion is morally debatable, sometime it can be a selfless act too. I.E. I believe that a woman who choose to abort because she know in her heart that she won't be a good mother, or that she won't be able to adequately fed the kid, is not purely selfish. What sense would it make for said woman to have the child and hate its guts every living days or only to watch it die from hunger?

Basically, it all come down to what one sacrifice oneself for. If one makes a sacrifice which is devoid of sense, why should they expect a medal for it?

And maybe you remember all the people who sacrificed themselves in saving lives on ground zero, I don't think they are many people who think that they didn't deserve to be honored as they were.

docs sacrifice going to each and all the events to discover ways to alter into docs. They sacrifice their time, skills, and well-being while they look after their sufferers. nonetheless they choose time to replenish so that they have stuff to offer; as quickly as we get to empty, we can't supply yet in basic terms anticipate restoration interior the variety of receiving. Snow boarders sacrifice time on the beaches for time interior the snow. They sacrifice falling into water (as surfers do) for falling on the chilly ice. yet, they have excitement interior the sacrifice, which brings excitement to those that locate snowboarding beautiful. we are consistently making a sacrifice in one way or yet another, the question is are we making the spectacular sacrifices to end Gods divine plan?

"Super Tuesday" hits the nail on the head, albeit inadvertently. To want to sacrifice just to be better remembered? Martyrdom and sacrifice don't mean anything if you're only doing it FOR that reason. Some of us see through that, to the "oh poor me" attitude that some of those who "sacrifice" get off on. And when you're doing it for the attention, it has even less meaning than when you're not sacrificing at all, because you're putting on assumptions.

SELF. We now live in a ME world. Sacrifice is made fun of because those in control of the media truly hate themselves for the cowards they are so they hide behind a mask of self-righteous condemnation.

There are so few people that disagree with what a soldier does. Less now than in the past likely. In many ancient societies soldiers were seen as intruding jerks that would shack up in your house, eat your food, and do nothing really but laze around. I think soldiers in general are viewed with much more kindness now.

I think the reason our military might get harassed today because so few people believe in what it is they're fighting for. Plus, now, instead of the draft, people CHOOSE to go to war for whatever reason that may be.

Starting in 1946 a generation of Americans was born who became the most pampered, spoiled, liberal generation in history. Then they were asked to fight a war: Vietnam.
They never got over it.
