Silk is the warmest and thinnest to start with first for the layering process. Many companies sell silk underclothing. When it gets cold here I find that the microfibre fleece the heavier type (both sides are fuzzy) is very warm. Not the sweatshirt variety. I find it works very well under my leather jacket on the back of our Gold Wing on evening rides. I never feel the wind. My legs are another story....Many stores sell the Microfibre fleece as jackets, and Big Dog sells pants as well or did a couple years back. As for feet....UGGs are the best. There is always a hot shower, or bath.

Layer your clothing and you'll be fine. Wear a long underwear shirt, a hooded sweatshirt over that and top it off with a nice winter coat. Combine that with a good pair of mittens and a nice pair of hiking boots and you should keep warm in most conditions. Under a bit colder conditions you'll need long underware pants, too.

Wind breakers are nessissary or winter ski jackets, nothing is worse then having the wind go through your clothes on a winter day. Lots of sweaters, mittens, boots, warm socks, touques definately, scarves if you want. And wear alot of layers. Its easier to remove layers then freeze your but off wishing you had more.
also Hot chocolate mix. Yumm. :]

Cotton is great for keeping you cool in the summer, but what you need to get are some thick, wool or fauz fur jackets, such as these! They may be pricy, but they will last you a LONG time!
