Or did the Articles of Confederation have a lot of problems as it stood in place back then? Please explain because I'm very confused on this subject!!!!!!

It was the first governing document of the United States of America. The "articles" set the rules for the operation of the "United States" confederation. The confederation was capable of making war, negotiating diplomatic agreements and resolving issues regarding western territories. The Articles were created by individual states for their defense, security of their liberties and their general welfare.

There was no strong central government. Each state had it's own government, printed it's own money, etc. It was not conducive to trade among the states. Plus there was no head (constitution) for all those tails (states) wagging.
