Well basing my guess solely on the lyrics, I would say it's a girl singing to a guy who cheated on her. They probably have each other's name tattooed on each other. She is wondering why he cheated, thinking maybe things she didn't say could have prevented it but inevitably lying there with him knowing that it's over and probably has been for some time. Hence the secrets in the silence of her skin.
