Griffey is the best CF ever. I will admit I'm basing it on "projected stats" that he WOULD have gotten had he not hurt every part of his body. We could have watched Bonds and Griffey chasing Aaron at the same time. How magical would that have been? The good guy vs the bad guy for the all-time record? He was the best player in the 90's, sweetest swing I've ever seen, had some speed, and oh yea... 10+ gold gloves before he retires. Remember all those catches at the wall? He invented the Sportscenter highlight of robbing a homerun and then turning around and hitting one in his next at bat. He also put out the best baseball video games in the 90's too! Any questions? Didn't think so.

I know your pain man, i grew up loving the red sox and the only person that i'd ever cheer for on another team was ken griffey jr, "the kid", and if i have to rank him he's #1 of any outfielder

"the kid" had 478 hrs when he left seattle which was the end of the 1999 season and had 1 good season in cincinatti in 2000 when he hit 40 hrs which is his average over his career till the next yr and since then hasn't played a full griffey season, so i got my projected stats, at the end of 2000 he had 518hrs, with a 40 hr average each yr for 7 yrs he'd have another 280hrs which would put him 798, by far the home run record and there would be no question of steriods, he's only gained maybe 15 lbs and thats from getting older and thats it

ken griffey was the greatest player of the era winning an mvp 2 season in a row of 56 hrs, winning 3 hr derby's still a record(not that it matters) and always having a great smile on his face

if i could meet anyone past present or future, i don't care who comes from the future, i'd wanna meet griffey

Ken Griffey should be in the top 5 of any category man. In the 1990s this guy was amazing proving to be the best player of that era. He could hit for power and he was a beast on defense. Had he stayed healthy we would be talking about the home run record right now and of course hes clean which is a big plus...

If you mean defensively, the 2 best would have to be Willie Mays and Joe DiMaggio. They were outstanding defensive center fielders. You also can't forget about Tris Speaker, who is also ahead of Griffey. He's definitely in the top 10, but he's #4 at best.

In the top 5 without a doubt - some were better hitters like

Teddy Ballgame - but he was not the fielder Jr was;
Hank the same - better hitter but not the fielder

Mays was the best all around

Jr is with Griffey

And if anyone mentions Baroid - I will probably throw up

Right behind the Yankee greats but do you realize if he had stayed healthy and at the pace he was at he would have reached 755 hr's this year and be the all time homerun king and he's a genuinely good guy and loves the game. And even w/ his injurys if he can do like he did this past year there is still a slim chance of him reaching 755 hr's if he wants to play like Barry untill he's 43

Certainly Jr. ranks among the best of all time. In his prime he was the best of his generation. The same questions have been asked before concerning my namesake. Mickey Mantle never played healthy his entire career. "What if" seems to be a question that could be asked about several great players.

If both Mantle and Jr had played their entire careers healthy we could be talking about Jr chasing Mantles all time home run record. I'm sure Mantle would have hit 800 or more and I'm sure Jr would have done the same.

Top 5. The guy was one of the best fielders when he was younger, he hit an incredible amount of home runs, he could hit for average, and he was fast. I think I may put him 3rd or 4th when it comes to center fielders. I honestly think he's a better ALL AROUND player than Joe DiMaggio, and that's how I rank players, by who's better all-around.

your right if he stayed healthy he would have beaten aaron's and bonds' record by now. because he will hit at least 615 by the time hes done with 3-4 years of injuries. he is probably in the top 3 on the all time list.

Early in his career easily in the top ten. But now he's not even in the top ten of current CF's and on the all-time list not even top 20. Too many injuries, no Championships, and above avg. stats is all he's got. He would really have to go on a terror for at least the next 5 years to change that.
