Is there some reason why the cell phone manufacturers can't take the hint and create larger cell phones, with louder ring tones, bigger keypads for easier texting (yeah, I text!). I have arthritis, and I hate the earpiece on my phone (it's flat) and hard to hear out of.

We need some basics, no video stuff, just a good solid phone for all of us!

I've heard of the Jitterbug but has no texting capabilities, which I need with my daughter (i.e., when she's in class and I need to pick her up). Hope they will up-grade

I must admit I love my phone and I text all the time, but I would still buy the slide or the flip ones as they are small when not in use. I always have my phone with me if I am out, but I need it to fit in my jeans pocket, usually I have dog leads, poo bags, hankie, bunch of keys and the phone. That's a lot when you are wearing a t-shirt or sweater, so I would not want a bigger phone. The only gripe I do have is the volume can't be turned up louder, I miss a lot of calls if the phone is not right beside me. I have been lucky with the keypads on my phones as all except one have been fine, and the wee samsung that had a small keypad soon found its self on ebay, where it sold for a good price.

I don't know anyone who has one, but I've seen the ads aimed at Seniors for the Jitterbug phones. They say the numbers are bigger and they don't have all those features you don't need.

My cell phone is still rather big and has the antenna, it's the only one that will pick up where we live. It's about had it, we were talking about me needing a new one, but there's no use getting one if the reception is no good and I don't want all those extra features I don't use.

I don't use the phone a lot, but do want one with me in case of an emergency, or something happens to my car while driving.
I don't want text messaging, e-mails, internet or call waiting, call forwarding,no video's no cameras or any other cra-, just a PHONE to talk to another person on the other end of the line. Is that too much to ask for,
And another thing I do not want to be tied a a contract for the next 2 years.

I have heard of a feature of some cells that, similar to a PC, allows you to enlargen your font!

Although I like my Kyocera with Verizon service, I wish I had a cell with speaker phone capabilities for when I'm driving, because the ear piece bothers me too!

Well, there is the Jitterbug, which is primarily for emergencies. It's large, with a large keypad, and it's made expressly for seniors to keep in the automobile.

No selling here. I'm simply telling you that the mail order house, First Street, sells them. (And other gadgets designed to make life easier for seniors.)

I agree. Try putting in the names of your contacts in your cell phone without making a mistake. Wow. Sometimes, I have to delete more than three times. I have arthritis too.

I have a blue tooth and I accidently rang my friend three times because I was hitting the wrong button.

P.S. Thanks for answering my question about leaving the keys in the door.

Check out this Jiggerbug telephone. As my contract is up with AT & T, going to switch. There is no extra stuff, just the phone with big numbers and screen. I understand the sound is better, but have not heard it yet.

I am not dependent on the cell phone; we have one but use ONLY for emergencies or personal contacts with our only child. My spouse felt it important to have one so we purchased from Virgin Mobile and pay $20, for services, every three months. The keypad is large enough for us.

Thank you! I agree!!!! I can't even see the numbers on my cell phone, they are so small!!! I don't need all that a camera, Internet access, ipod, etc stuff. I just want a phone so I can dial, talk, and hang up!
