I think they have mixed up the words "fighting" and "singing".

On myspace there are advertisements and profile for a concert to "fight for human rights" in Darfur.

I thought a concert was SINGING not FIGHTING. A concert is a publicity stunt where a bunch of bands(usually ones running out of money or PR) play music and hope leaders start to feel bad about what they've done, have a change of heart and decide to let their people live in peace and harmony.

Got news for ya, that never works.

"FIGHTING" for human rights is like participating in world war II where jews were massacred by Nazis. Fighting for human rights is catching a mad man in the middle east that practiced biological weapons on his own people.

Woodstock and "Rock for Darfur" = SINGING, dancing, smoking ___, and f_____.

World War I, II, Iraq, ect... = FIGHTING dictators that kill their own people(or people next door) because of religion, culture, just feel like it and/or not practicing basic human rights.

Just seems like this is always the case. Liberals and Dems are happy to open their big mouths, have a concert, protest in a far off country, ect for lack of human rights but if they're actually asked to fight(you know, lift a finger let alone a gun) for those people its "none of their business".

TJ815, It is just a simple play on words as they say ! I understand where you are coming from though. I too believe in plain simple honesty in advertising !

Fighting does not have to involve physical violence or war.

For example you can get into a verbal argument. That's a fight.

Fight also means "to put forth a determined effort" (Webster's Dictionary).

And let's face some facts....we are not in Iraq for humanitarian reasons. It's all about the oil. If we were so concerned about liberty and freedom we would be in Darfur helping to topple the dictators, stop the genocide and install a 'democratic' government there. Conservatives only go to war for two things....$$$$$$$$ and POWER!! Since our nation has no economic interest in Darfur, conservatives will not get us involved there.

If our next president is a liberal watch how quickly we get involved in Darfur.

Well I'm confused too, you have me thinking we are in Iraq for human rights reasons after reading your question/rant. I'm wondering, why are we not invading China, Syria, Lebanon, North Korea and a host of African countries? I think we need more concerts and less fighting.

'Fighting' can indeed be metaphorical, and could thus encompas any action that opposes or supports almost any cause. Thus, for instance, you can be 'fighting' for peace by blocking the steps of a university and smoking weed; or 'fighting' for radical islamism by dressing in pink and chanting "bring our troops home."

It's really a lot like 'jihad' - which can mean a litteral 'holy war' or metaphorical 'struggle.'

My suggestion: Get over it. Move on. Go figure how many
are surprised by the American use of the English language.

Seen how a word becomes a fist? Goood, errm - well-well.
So get a lift-off before the elevator has another malfunction.

so are you trying to say that as a conservative you only believe in

singing for our freedoms?

Then why aren't you in IRAQ ? I mean, you guys think that this is a just war and we are "fighting for our freedom"
or in reality when it comes right down to it, the conservatives on Y/A don't actually believe what they say.

Cynic.
Ever listen to any music? Toby Keith doesn't count.
Keep your pessimistic and fatalistic world view to yourself.

I think you're confused about the difference between a question and a rant.
