To help do my part in helping to save the Earth by reducing the amount of hazardous pollutants I personally use and/or produce, I was wondering if there was a place online that sells natural household cleaning products (dishwashing liquids, bathroom cleaners, floor cleaners, etc). If you know of any books that have recipes for making your own natural cleaners or you have any tips on making cleaners it would be greatly appreciated.

Before you fall for all the new "nontoxic" or natural cleaners, try this web site: http://www.hammacher.com/publish/74609.asp?promo=new_items

You can do a heck of a lot with vinegar, ammonia, baking soda, salt, and soap. It's the way our grandmothers...or great grandmothers cleaned. One item used thru our family for generations is Bon Ami..........Barkeepers Friend is about the same stuff.

For an all purpose spray cleaner you can use a combination of lemon juice and white vinegar dilluted with water. The acidity in both will help with removing a lot of things. One thing that you should be aware of is that you can use dish washing liquid and it is not going to be harmful to the enviroment. (I am an environmental horticulture student and we talked about that last week :D) The main things that you should be concerned with are your bathroom cleaners and floor cleaners. Depending on what type of floors you have it shouldn't be a big deal to just use warm water and a clean mop or dust broom. If your household is on a septic system instead of a city sewer system you can get away with using ajax on your bathroom surfaces (that are scratch tolerant) since that waste water goes into a container instead of out to sea or water treatment facility. I will look into this deeper and get back with you.

Vitamin World is presently selling some cleaners such as you wish for. And they do have a web site- www.vitaminworld.com

I've found that a half-and-half mix of white vinegar and water is great for cleaning glass. And that baking soda is good for scrubbing out grease, sticky stuff such as tape might leave, baked-on foods, and many stains that you might get in bath tubs.
