We have a under-counter dishwasher in our kitchen. Two or three times during its cycle it emits a loud vibration sound. The sound lasts about one minute and then stops. It does not seem to impact how it is working, i.e. the dishes come out clean.

My current thinking is that the noise is coming from the water pump that extracts the 'used' waste water. It seems to match the duration of the noise and point in the cycle when the noise occurs. I have looked to see if there is something jammed in the drain holes, but there isn't anything obvious.

Does anyone has any suggestions? I thought I would ask before I go to the trouble of pulling it out from under the counter.

This is a new behavior. We bought the house 18 months ago and the dishwasher was already installed. It has worked great up until the last week.

I believe it is less than 5 years old and appears to have been professionally installed.

Need more information here. How old is the unit? If it's new, was it installed by a professional? It might need to be leveled.

Where does the drain hose run? Can you see it to examine it for kinks? If it's an older unit it may need servicing, the motor, pump etc.

Thanks for asking this question, it reminds me I need to buy some insulation for mine.
