It is an outdated hold over from the Hebrew days when purity of blood lines was extremely important to the husband's family. The girl had to prove she was a virgin on her marriage consummation bed.
Wives were considered property of the husband and he gave her only a very few privileges above that of a slave.
Today marriage is required for things like inheritance problems, insurance and other legal aspects.
The government should get out of the marriage business and allow people to live as they choose with whom they choose and for as long as they choose. Both should be responsible for providing for any children until they, the children, are 16 years of age. It should not be only the father's responsibility.

constant nagging, sex life slowly slip away (some time fast), many times think of regets, verbal abuse, disrespect, etc, etc, that if you married the wrong person who no value about what make a marriage work.
If you got the right one, its beautiful and pretty much as you would like it to be. even with the ups and downs, it still can be beautiful.

It is a lot of hard work and commitment, but when you love someone so much it is worth that piece of paper. I mean all it really is is a piece of paper, however there is alot of meaning in that piece of paper, not to mention the sacred bond that is shared between the two people, that piece of paper also carries alot of entitlement, as well as if your husband dies that peice of paper makes a huge difference.

Good for some, bad for others. I think manogomy in general is more of a descision than instinct. Some people just can't handle it.

From what I gathered form others, and looking back on my own experience, I'd say it sucks.
But regardless of what I or others think, do, or say about it, marriage is something most people just end up doing, anyway.

Its a life time commitment (well meant to be) to the person you love mpre than anyone in the whole world.
Marriage makes me feel secure, and happy, I love my husband so so much i would die for him, and vice versa.
I also think that if you have kids, its nice that mummy and daddy have the same name as the child.

Marriage is wonderful. It is having a companion that you can share your joys and your pains, your smiles and your tears. You don't have to worry about what you say or do, you are comfortable in your place in his life.
Good Luck
